Songwriting is an art and a science. Worship writing is as well....and it's a whole other animal, too. It's an incredible honor to catch and craft songs that shape how people think about God, usher in His presence and minister to His heart all while being approachable to those singing and leading.
And all of that can also be a little bit intimidating. Here's the secret—ask for help! Find instruction in areas where you get stuck, discouraged, and isolated. It's not about accumulating a bunch of experience or notches on our belt. There is actually no exposure and expertise necessary, just a readiness to grow, a hunger to learn and to take the next step together.
We've found that many of these small, simple, yet profound elements are best served in small, intimate and nurturing settings of honesty, transparency, question-asking and genuine care and interest for each other. Above anything else it requires most the promised presence of God, gathered among twos or threes.
We'll be intentionally capping attendance for this event to a small number for that very reason.
Your Instructor
Kalley is an award-winning songwriter/artist/worship leader. Her song "Ever Be" was nominated for worship song of the year with the Dove Awards. It won an ASCAP publishing award for most covered worship song that year and earned "Gold" status for selling over 500,000 copies.Â
She is currently a signed writer with Tim Publishing in Nashville, TN, was a writer and artist with Bethel Music for 5 years, making her mark with songs like "Spirit Move" and "Alabaster Heart" and "Oasis". She has been a writer on multiple major releases, including the Tasha Cobbs Leonard single "The Church I Grew Up In", Phil Wickham's "His Name is Jesus" as well as "No One Like You" from UPPERROOM. She has also leant her writing with songs along side friends, "Better Than The Rest" with David Funk, "City of God" with Steffany Gretzinger and the title track for Patrick Mayberry's album "Wild Faith".
